Vinyl Decals Application

What You'll Need:

  • Vinyl decal sticker
  • Clean cloth or microfiber towel
  • Rubbing alcohol or soap and water
  • Squeegee or credit card (for smoothing)
  • Masking tape (optional)
  • Patience!

Step-by-Step Installation:

1. Clean the Surface

Before applying your vinyl decal, ensure the surface is clean and dry. Wash the area where you’ll be placing the decal using soap and water or rubbing alcohol. This will remove dirt, wax, or grease, allowing the decal to adhere properly. Let the surface dry completely.

2. Position the Decal

Hold the decal up to the surface to check the positioning. If needed, use masking tape to temporarily secure the top edge of the decal to the surface. This helps keep the decal in place as you start the application process.

3. Peel the Backing

Carefully peel off the backing paper from the decal, starting from one corner. Be sure that the decal itself sticks to the clear transfer tape (the top layer). Take your time with this step to avoid tearing or stretching the decal.

4. Apply the Decal

Once the backing is removed, align the decal on the vehicle. Starting from one edge, press the decal down gently onto the surface. Use your hand or a squeegee/credit card to smooth out the decal, starting from the center and working outward to avoid bubbles or wrinkles.

5. Remove the Transfer Tape

After the decal is fully applied, slowly peel off the clear transfer tape. Be careful not to pull up the decal while doing this. Start at one corner and peel at a sharp angle. If any part of the decal lifts, press it back down with the squeegee or your fingers before continuing.

6. Smooth Out Bubbles

If any air bubbles appear under the decal, use the squeegee or credit card to gently push them out toward the edges. For small, stubborn bubbles, you can use a pin to puncture the bubble and smooth it out.

Additional Tips:

  • Apply in the Right Conditions: Install your decal in a cool, shaded area. Extreme heat or cold can affect the adhesive and make the decal harder to apply.
  • Be Patient: Take your time to ensure proper alignment and smooth application.
  • Wait Before Washing: After applying the decal, wait at least 24-48 hours before washing your vehicle to allow the adhesive to set.
